Otani Junior High School has a lot of unique teachers.
They’re very kind and interesting. They help us when we are in trouble.
This time, we will introduce our homeroom teachers.

3-A
He is Mr. Nishi. He is our Japanese teacher and the volleyball
team’s adviser. His hometown is a world heritage site.
He likes curry and rice. He is good at badminton.

3-B
She is Ms. Imahori. She is our Japanese teacher.
She likes kimono very much. She told us to wear beautiful
kimonos in the future. Her smile is very cute. She likes oranges.

He is Mr.Fujita. He is our social studies teacher and
the baseball team adviser. He often tells jokes.
He doesn’t like barley rice. He likes ramen very much.
He is good at making us laugh.

Sports and Culture Committee
Ball games are held twice a year.
We enjoy playing ball games.
We organize the Ball Games Tournaments and the HyakuninIsshu Tournaments.

Health Committee
We broadcast information on school lunches.
Lifestyle Change Week or LCW is held twice a year.
We care about everyone's health.

Life Committee
In the morning, we do a bike key check.
We offer a school supplies sale service on mornings: 7:45~8:00 and afternoons:13:05~13:20.
We make preparations for the student council elections.

Class Leader Members
We have three types of work. The writer checks homework.
The legislator joins the school discussion.
The chairman makes a good class environment.

Executive Department
We organize the school festival.
We are responsible for the student council event planning
and enforcement.

Environmental Volunteer Committee
Watering flowers. Red Feather Fundraising.
Volunteer cleaning. Lockers check.

Library Committee
We change the daily newspapers. We sometimes put books in order.
We make yearly-student-book.

Broadcasting Committee
We broadcast to students at noon every day.
We hope you enjoy listening to our broadcasts.
We make quizzes for broadcasting.

This year, we had our school festival on October twenty second.
Many people came and enjoyed our festival.
This year it was held for the first time in two years.

We sang in the gym. We practiced for about one month.
All the classes got a prize; gold, silver or bronze.
We made a big improvement in our performance.
Our class got first place.
By the way, 3B sang “HIKARI”. The song is very good.
We love 3B members very much!!!

Our school was built 39 years ago. It is a meruhen building.
Our school front is modeled after Tokyo University.

The gym is modeled after Tyuo Kokaido in Osaka.
The top of the tower is modeled after Oxford University’s student
dormitory.

We have a gazebo. We call it “Ongakudo”.
It’s modeled after Hibiya Ongakudo.

The club house is modeled after Florence Cathedral.

We have four gates.
The north gate is called Hokushinmon.
It’s modeled after Arc de Triomphe in France.
The south gate is called Tenkeimon.
It’s modeled after the Palace of Versailles.
The west gate is called Seihoumon.
The east gate is called Zuihoumon.

We have a tower. We call it “Tower of Hope”.
We are proud of all of these buildings.

1. Dance
Many clubs danced well. I think the best performance was
the Girls’ dance team. They were very cool.

2. Otagei
Souma Yuta and Hinata did “Otagei”. They danced cool
with penlights. I think their Otagei performance was beautiful.

3. Drama
The 2nd grade boys acted out some famous Ghibli scenes.
For example, the scene where Mei crushes on Makkurokurosuke.
It was very interesting.

-Soccer Team-
The soccer team is very friendly. They can run fast. There is a hard run training routine in winter. It makes them faster. Even if there is a hard practice, they can overcome is with their teammates. Our soccer team is a good team!!


-Volleyball team-
They are very cheerful and friendly. They have big voices.
They always say hello. We welcome beginners!!!

Basketball
I was on the basketball team.
The basketball team has some funny members.
We won the game in the Tonami Area Tournament this year.
Let's enjoy playing basketball.

Hockey
I was in the hockey team.
We joined All Japan Hockey Tournament.
We did our best there.
We went to many cities to play hockey.
Let’s play hockey together.

This year we had sports day in May. It was a good chance to work with our new classmates. We could choose a role. For example broadcasting, panel, set up the venue and so on. Each role helped other members. We ate a special lunch box on that day. It was as delicious as school lunch. We had a variety of races and programs. Above all, relay races were the most exciting. For a couple of years, we have been dancing soran-bushi. The dance was a little different for each team. All of the students had high spirits.

We had students events at our school festival
on October twenty-second.


I. The Throwing Ring Game
We could do it in the lunch room.
There were many plastic bottles there.
１　If we hook a ring on the first-row plastic bottles,
　　we can get two points.
２　If we hook a ring on the second-row plastic bottles,
　　we can get four points.
３　If we hook a ring on the third-row plastic bottles,
　　we can get ten points.

It was difficult but it was very fun.
Many people could enjoy it.　


II. Takarasagashi, the Treasure Hunting
All students can take part in this event.
It was held in the lunch room.
There were three rules.
First, we had to look for cards hidden on the first floor
to the third floor.
Second, we had to collect fifty cards with other members.
Third, we must cooperate with other members.
When we got the fifty cards, we had to put the cards together
to make a poster and figure out the special words that were
written.
It was hard but we enjoyed playing this game.

III. Imposters game
We played Imposters game in class.
This game had one Imposter team and some regular people teams
You didn’t know your team before the game started.
１　The game master made a team and told the players which team they belonged to.
２　If you revealed the imposter, you won.
Seventeen students joined this game.
All of them enjoyed this game.

We could enjoy all the students events！

We enjoy listening to the broadcast during lunch time. It is about today’s lunch menu and some food trivia. We also enjoy quiz time by the broadcasting committee.

Our favorite lunches are kinako fried bread and chicken filled with cheese. Kinako fried bread is sweet. Chicken filled with cheese is delicious. It looks
like fish and chips. Our school lunch has Okonomi kondate, Lucky kondate and other special lunch days about four times a month.

Today, I will introduce some good points!
First, about Okonomi kondate. We can have a selected menu requested by students.
Second, about lucky kondate. We have special shaped carrots in the soup on that day. For example, star-shaped, rabbit-shaped and so on. If you get it, you are lucky!
Lastly, about Meruhen kondate. The menu is made of local food.

In that way, thanks to Oyabe City Lunch Center, we enjoy eating school lunch every day.

Otani Junior High School has a “spirit of studying”. First, “Lets have a kind heart”. Second, “Let’s show our good points”. Finally, “Let’s go through”. Otani students make goals to guide them.

By the way , Otani Junior High School has a lot of traditions. Do you know other Otani traditions?

One of them is that our school doesn’t have a chime. It’s only at Otani Junior High School. We have to look at the clocks before studying. We have the power of time control. We think protecting time is important.

We must keep our traditions and we must tell our juniors them.

Students Leaders
The Students leader’s job was very hard but it was rewarding and very fun. I was excited because all Otani Junior High School students said “Thank you” to us. I was the team leader of the red team. The red team team leaders taught students Soranbushi. The red team was fine so I was proud of my work.

Student Council
The student council competition has three games. Jump rope, big ball rolling and tug of war. For jump rope the team that jumps most in two minutes is the winner. For big ball rolling the team that rolls the ball to the goal in the shortest time is the winner. For tug of war the strongest team is the winner. It was very fun.

We went on our school trip. We went to Kansai for three days.
On the first day, we went to Kyoto. There were many temples. For example, Kiyomizu temple, Hushimi Inari Shrine, and so on. And we learned about Japanese history. We enjoyed Kyoto and got a good experience.
On the second day, we went to Hiroshima. We went to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Hiroshima Peace Museum. We learned about peace. We ate Hiroshimayaki at dinner.
On the last day, we were divided into 3 groups. We went to some famous spots in Nara. In B group,
we went to Nara park. We saw a lot of Great Buddha.
This School Trip was very interesting for us. We learned a lot of Japanese culture. Thank you.

We love school lunch. School lunch is very delicious. It is nutritious and cheap. We enjoy eating school lunch.

We are third graders. Third graders are very unique. We will introduce our school life.

7:40~ 8:10 We come to school. But some students are sometimes late.

8:15~8:25 We have to read books. But some students don’t read books. A teacher said to us “ Stop doing your homework!!” So we became very sad.

8:40~9:30 We have the first class. We study very hard the previous night so we are usually sleepy. But we are very smart, so we don’t sleep.

9:40~10:30 The second class. We enjoy studying with friends.

10:40~11:30 The third class. We are a little tired.

11:40~12:30 The fourth class. We are very very very hungry so our stomachs cry.

12:30~13:00 We eat school lunch. School lunch is very well-balanced and delicious.
It makes us smile and we feel powerful. We become fine. Then…

13:00~13:25 Our favorite time starts!!!! We enjoy talking with friends, playing sports, and so on.

13:25~14:15 We start the fifth class. We have to study. Oh, we are very full and tired.
Oh we become sleepy. But we are examinees. We don’t slee…p… Zzzz

14:25~15:15 We have the last class. We are tired and a little happy because we can go home soon. We study hard!!

15:20~15:30 We start cleaning time. We clean hard. We must pick up any garbage we see.

16:00~ After school. We can study for a long time. But some students play games, play sports, read comic books, and so on.

〜Mr.Otani Isamu and his family story〜
He was born in　Oyabe City.　He was an adopted child of Mr. Otani Takejirou.
His father and aunt are great persons. His aunt Ms.Otani Yonetarou built the Hotel New Otani.
It is a big and famous hotel chain.

〜About our school “Otani Junior High School”〜
In 1984, Otani Junior High School was built by Mr.Isamu.
Do you know about our school’s name?
This school was named after Mr. Otani.
So our school name is not a local name. This name is a famous person’s name. It is great!!
We are proud of this.
There are lot of science instruments and books given by him. We thank him for this.　
We have a statue of “Ninomiya Kinjirou” in our school yard. It was built by him too

Our school is special. This is only some of many good points.
So we have much more good points at Otani Junior High School !!
